Thank You , fanpirate! Merry Christmas to all luxy fans in all over the world!
What the jingles! What an exellent quality! The great voice of the great Stuart Henry! And there is Mike Read too! Thank You! Nice present from ...under the Christmas tree!
In the middle of 1978 BigL started at 8 o'clock usually presented by Rob Jones - weekdays ( Rob replaced Peter Powell in late 1977 ). On Mondays and Thursdays from 10 till 11 as you may hear on the 2nd soundclip there was Emperor Rosko in exile( I didn't hear Mark Wesley the whole summer of 1978 while I heard Rosko on Radio Luxembourg only in summer of '78...). On Tuesdays as always Bob Stewart with TOP 30 singles ( sorry then - TOP 40s ), and on Wednesdays Bob presented TOP 30 albums of the week( in June 7, 1978 - Mike Read did it for Bob Stewart - that is what I really know ). Let' go on! At 11 weekdays there was Golden Mine usually presented by Tony Prince. Daily Mirror Popclubs was from 8 till 8:30 On Tuesdays. On weekends there was Barry Alldis with his good programms especially Love Songs in the late shows at 1 o'clock on Saturdays, before that - of course : Country Music Show presented by Bob Stewart. There were also TOP 7 singles and albums on Thursdays at 9:00 with Rob Jones ...
Talking about Stuart Henry, I hear his programms very often in the middle of '78. Sometimes weekdays - at Midnight or in the early shows, but regulary on Fridays Stuart Henry was on the air with his Soundsystem at 11:00 (including TOP 10 Rock Albums at Midnight ) and on Sundays at 7:30 when he presented one hour of New Wave Music. Also he came out with album of the week at 10 o'clock on Saturdays.
In the spring of 1978 Mike Read replaced Chris Carey. In June of that year Mike often presented the late-late shows weekdays from 2:00 in the morning till closedown at 3:45.
And so on - the great memories!
In Latvia still is cold - it's real snowy white Christmas! Lucky children! Ice hockey on the lakes, rivers - in December - so early - that is funny!
So one more time - Thanks for the memories! Merry Christmas!
Edvins.
